Lunch Tweetup On Friday and Lynchburg Plans
A few of us have managed to meet up for lunch every other week or so since the first Huntsville Tweetup. This Friday we’re actually going to have it planned out and announced in advance so that some of you who miss out might get to plan to meet us.
When: Friday, May 2 at noon
Where: Panera Bread at Airport Rd. and Whitesburg Dr. (map) If you can’t be there in body, we might attempt a Ustream from my MacBook. If the weather’s good, we’ll be on the patio (if you get there first, grab the tables!) If not, look for the folks in the picture from the first Tweetup. My red hair’s not hard to find.
On the agenda: Trying to figure out where to go with this-here site (wiki?) and attempting to set a date for a Lynchburg meetup. Oh, and the usual Twitter gossip.
Speaking of which — last weekend we came up with the idea for our first multi-city meetup at Miss Mary Bobo’s in Lynchburg, TN, which is somewhat halfway between Huntsville, Nashville and Chattanooga.
We have to make reservations well in advance for this place (which has the best country food EVER) so if you’re interested, please comment or contact me (@ariedana) or @aubiematt and let us know if there’s a weekend in late May or in June that you absolutely couldn’t do it.

In March of 2008, Ariel and David Safdie won a permit to place a statue of the Flying Spaghetti Monster on the lawn of the Cumberland County Courthouse. Now, a motion by the county government has been placed to remove the statue by May 1st, 2008. Not to let this moment pass us by, we are planning a trip to the court house to see this landmark that has won the hearts of many on the internet. Join us at the Flying Spaghetti Monster statue on April 26th, 2008 at 1:00pm for a Tweetup at the Cumberland County Courthouse. We actually have no idea what is actually in Crossville, TN, but we think it’s going to be a great trip nonetheless!
You can find more information about the Flying Spaghetti Monster statue and how it was made on Ariel’s blog.

Tweetup - A Change of Focus
Alright, the original reason we created this site was to host a little tweetup for the Huntsville based twitter’ers. Now, we seem to have a change of focus for this project. We’re trying to put together a collaborative place that people can post to from a smartphone. The purpose would be to encourage the mobile freedom that twitter helps provide. We believe you can do amazing things with cellphones given the right tools. And so we are calling for your help!
Project Intentions:
- Not for profit
- Keep as collaborative as possible
- Involve as many people as possible
- Creative Commons
- Open Source
Accomplish the following goals:
- Not Limited to Huntsville
- Allow Any Organization to Call A Tweetup
- Promote Mobile Collaboration
- Simple, Easy to use interface
- Allow the spontaneous to happen
We are looking for:
- Coders
- Designers
- Thought-Leaders
- Promotters
- Mascotts!
I would love to hear from anyone who wants to be involved in this project and any ideas you may have. Also feel free to comment below to share any ideas you may have.

Anyone else who has any photos, please upload them to Flickr and tag them with ‘huntsvilletweetup’ to share with everyone.
If you missed out on the first Huntsville Tweetup, don’t worry. We are planning to have another one very soon! We will keep you posted!

The first Tweetup has been scheduled for Saturday March 29th, 2008 at Panera Bread on Airport Rd. An official time has not been scheduled yet, hopefully we will decide on this soon. We’re also hoping that having the meeting on a Saturday will give enough time for those who want to travel to Huntsville for the meeting. Panera Bread has free WiFi, so bring your laptop, drink coffee, and eat yummy food with us! Overall we think the meeting should be a good time. Come out and join us!
