It’s a bit last minute, but I’d like to take advantage of working at home for a week to do a Tweetup and work in a pilgrimage to see the new iPhone at the Apple Store.
Place: Trying to decide what the best location would be at Bridge Street. Why haven’t they built a Panera there yet. Unless anyone has a better idea, proably we could do lunch at the PF Chang’s. I know the crowd’s busy that time of day, but I’ll either call ahead for a group reservation or show up really early. So please comment as early as possible here or on Twitter to me so I can get a semi-accurate head count. Also feel free to throw out other places that might be better. A place with free WiFi would be awesome since I might be doing some work at some point during wait times.
Time: Unless anyone wants to go early to beat the rush, we should probably shoot for noon.
How to find me: Tall redhead (probably in glasses) who will probably be carrying at least one laptop bag. Maybe even my black Green Hills Apple Store shirt, since it’s a special occasion.
Also, message me via @ariedana tomorrow from your cell if you’re having trouble finding any of us there.
Make sure you allow enough time in your lunch schedule for the iPhone pilrimage. I have no idea how busy they’ll be by that time.Filed under Tweetups | Comments (7)
A few of us are having a tweetup for the Huntsville Apple Store opening at Bridgestreet. The new store opens on Saturday May 31st, 2008 at 10:00 am. The first 1000 people who come through the door will get Apple t-shirts. We plan on getting there early and waiting in line at 9:30 am. Come out and join us!Filed under Tweetups | Comments (6)
A few of us have managed to meet up for lunch every other week or so since the first Huntsville Tweetup. This Friday we’re actually going to have it planned out and announced in advance so that some of you who miss out might get to plan to meet us.
When: Friday, May 2 at noon
Where: Panera Bread at Airport Rd. and Whitesburg Dr. (map) If you can’t be there in body, we might attempt a Ustream from my MacBook. If the weather’s good, we’ll be on the patio (if you get there first, grab the tables!) If not, look for the folks in the picture from the first Tweetup. My red hair’s not hard to find.
On the agenda: Trying to figure out where to go with this-here site (wiki?) and attempting to set a date for a Lynchburg meetup. Oh, and the usual Twitter gossip.
Speaking of which — last weekend we came up with the idea for our first multi-city meetup at Miss Mary Bobo’s in Lynchburg, TN, which is somewhat halfway between Huntsville, Nashville and Chattanooga.
We have to make reservations well in advance for this place (which has the best country food EVER) so if you’re interested, please comment or contact me (@ariedana) or @aubiematt and let us know if there’s a weekend in late May or in June that you absolutely couldn’t do it.Filed under Tweetups | Comments (3)
In March of 2008, Ariel and David Safdie won a permit to place a statue of the Flying Spaghetti Monster on the lawn of the Cumberland County Courthouse. Now, a motion by the county government has been placed to remove the statue by May 1st, 2008. Not to let this moment pass us by, we are planning a trip to the court house to see this landmark that has won the hearts of many on the internet. Join us at the Flying Spaghetti Monster statue on April 26th, 2008 at 1:00pm for a Tweetup at the Cumberland County Courthouse. We actually have no idea what is actually in Crossville, TN, but we think it’s going to be a great trip nonetheless!
You can find more information about the Flying Spaghetti Monster statue and how it was made on Ariel’s blog.
The Spaghetti Monster can be found here:

Alright, the original reason we created this site was to host a little tweetup for the Huntsville based twitter’ers. Now, we seem to have a change of focus for this project. We’re trying to put together a collaborative place that people can post to from a smartphone. The purpose would be to encourage the mobile freedom that twitter helps provide. We believe you can do amazing things with cellphones given the right tools. And so we are calling for your help!
- Not for profit
- Keep as collaborative as possible
- Involve as many people as possible
- Creative Commons
- Open Source
Accomplish the following goals:
- Not Limited to Huntsville
- Allow Any Organization to Call A Tweetup
- Promote Mobile Collaboration
- Simple, Easy to use interface
- Allow the spontaneous to happen
We are looking for:
I would love to hear from anyone who wants to be involved in this project and any ideas you may have. Also feel free to comment below to share any ideas you may have.Filed under Tweetups | Comments (17)
The first Huntsville Tweetup has come and gone. All in all, we had a great time! There were new people to meet and a lot of fun discussion to go with it. We even signed-up a few new people to twitter!
Anyone else who has any photos, please upload them to Flickr and tag them with ‘huntsvilletweetup’ to share with everyone.
If you missed out on the first Huntsville Tweetup, don’t worry. We are planning to have another one very soon! We will keep you posted!

The first Tweetup has been scheduled for Saturday March 29th, 2008 at Panera Bread on Airport Rd. An official time has not been scheduled yet, hopefully we will decide on this soon. We’re also hoping that having the meeting on a Saturday will give enough time for those who want to travel to Huntsville for the meeting. Panera Bread has free WiFi, so bring your laptop, drink coffee, and eat yummy food with us! Overall we think the meeting should be a good time. Come out and join us!
